National Championships Results

Saturday – Senior Events

Mens Singles we had 5 players in the last 16, Ryan Henry, Chris Main, Jamie Johnson, Nathan Hogg and Martin Johnson.
Chris Main reaching is 12th quarter final in Mens Singles in a row, Martin reached his 4th semi final losing out to Colin Dalgleish. Jamie lost to Gavin Yuan 3-1, Ryan Henry lost to eventual winner Gavin Rumgay & Nathan lost to semi finalist Calum Morrison.

Martin Johnson & Danny Bajwa won the Mens Doubles title defeating Calum Morrison and Colin Dalgleish in the final 3-1.

West Kilbride’s Holly McNamara won her first national senior title, winning the Womens Doubles title with fellow Edinburgh University student Faye Leggett. Holly and Faye won the final 11-9 in the fifth v Drumchapels Paula Callaghan and Alisa Khalid.

Jamie & Gavin Yuan reached the semi finals of Men’s Doubles beating 3 strong pairing to reach the SF.

Chris & Holly reached the semi finals of mixed doubles losing out in a close 3-2 match v eventual winners Danny Bajwa & Paula Callaghan.

Sunday – Junior Events

On Sunday for the junior events, Adam, Ben L, Padma, Tamara, Ben A, Alfie & Nathan competed

Girls events we had strong performances from Padma and Tamara who both played well throughout the day. Padma reached the semi finals of the junior girls losing to Aberdeens Kishi Adekola. Tamara lost in group stage but played a great match v Scottish no3 Megan Mulhearn where Tama lost 3-2 in a tight match with plenty of great rallies.

Cadet Girls event was a group of 6, Tamara won 2 out 5 and finished 4th and Padma won 1 out of 6 and finished in 5th position. Girls are currently ranked no4 and no5 in Scotland.

WoS Open junior champion Nathan Hogg reached the quarter finals of the Junior boys losing out to Aberdeen’s Harry Blackhall in a close match 3-2.

A first Scottish National Championships for Adam, Ben L, Ben A & Alfie who all competed well against top opposition. All the players competing well in regional and national competititions.
